Apple Vision Pro 2: Everything We Know So Far About the Next-Gen Headset

AAbhi6 min read

A Lighter, Cheaper Headset

According to supply-chain analysts and patent filings, Apple is actively developing a second-generation Vision Pro that addresses the two biggest complaints about the original: weight and price. The new model is expected to weigh under 400 grams — nearly half of the current 650g — thanks to a redesigned aluminum-and-carbon-fiber chassis.

What's Changing Inside

The M4 chip is all but confirmed as the brain of Vision Pro 2. Combined with a new custom display driver, Apple is targeting 8K per-eye resolution at 120 Hz with significantly lower power draw. The external battery pack is reportedly being replaced with a slimmer integrated cell offering 3+ hours of use.

Key Specs We're Hearing

  • Apple M4 chip with dedicated ray-tracing cores
  • Micro-OLED displays at ~3,500 PPI
  • Inside-out + outside-in hybrid tracking
  • Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4
  • Integrated battery: ~3.5 hours active use

Software: visionOS 3

Apple is reportedly planning a major jump with visionOS 3, including native window tiling (like macOS Stage Manager), multi-user shared spaces for FaceTime calls, and deeper integration with Apple Intelligence for context-aware UI that adapts to what you're doing.

The future of computing isn't on your desk — it's all around you. Vision Pro 2 is Apple's clearest statement that they believe spatial computing is the next platform shift.

Pricing & Availability

The big question: will Apple bring the price down? Insiders suggest a starting price of $2,499 — a full $1,000 less than the original. Expect an announcement at WWDC 2026 with shipping in late Q3.
